An aneurysm is a weakening and bulging of an artery wall. Many have no symptoms and are not dangerous. However, at their most severe, aneurysms can lead to life-threatening internal bleeding. Experimental coil-treated saccular aneurysms missing mural cells are incapable of organizing an intraluminal thrombus, are marked by a prolonged inflammatory reaction that affects the intraluminal thrombus and aneurysm wall, and thereby leads to aneurysm wall instability with frequent aneurysm recurrences. An aneurysm is a balloon-like bulge in an artery.

If you have an aneurysm you may not have any symptoms, but if you do, they're similar to a stroke. Vision problems; the worst headache of your life; Saccular aneurysms are focal protrusions arising from vessel wall weaknesses at major bifurcations on the arteries along the base of the brain. These protrusions are generally spherical in shape, although asymmetric expansion of the wall is not unusual, often resulting in a multilocular appearance. A saccular aneurysm is a rounded sac containing blood, that is attached to a main artery or one of its branches. Also known as a berry aneurysm (because it resembles a berry hanging from a vine), this is the most common form of cerebral aneurysm.

A pseudoaneurysm, or false aneurysm, is not an enlargement of any of the layers of the blood vessel wall. A false aneurysm may be the result of a prior surgery or trauma. Sometimes, a tear can occur on the inside layer of the vessel. Saccular Aneurysm A saccular aneurysm is sometimes called a ‘berry aneurysm.’ This type of aneurysm is rounded and hangs from the artery as a berry hangs from a vine.

Abdominal aortic aneurysms are defined by a > 50% focal dilation of the abdominal aorta or when the abdominal aortic diameter is > 3 cm. 1-3 Aneurysms can be further classified into the more common fusiform subcategory (accounting for 80% of cases), or the rarer saccular type. 3 Saccular aneurysms are focal and have a more lobular configuration with a narrower neck. A saccular aneurysm, (see Figure 1), bulges from only one side of the aortic vessel and has a distinct neck. The fusiform aneurysm, (see Figure 1), is similar to a saccular aneurysm in that the shape is also a ballooning, but pressure causes all sides of the aortic vessel to bulge outward. A saccular-shaped aneurysm bulges or balloons out only on one side. A pseudoaneurysm, or false aneurysm, is not an enlargement of any of the layers of the blood vessel wall.

SaAAAs become acute at smaller diameters than FuAAAs in DSAA patients. This study therefore supports the current idea that SaAAAs should be electively treated at smaller diameters than FuAAAs. Saccular aneurysms, or "berry" aneurysms, are spherical in shape and involve only a portion of the vessel wall; they usually range from 5 to 20 cm (2.0 to 7.9 in) in diameter, and are often filled, either partially or fully, by a thrombus. Results: Three hundred twenty-two saccular aortic aneurysms were identified in 284 patients. There were 153 (53.7%) men and 131 women with a mean age of 73.5±10.0 years. SAAs were located in the ascending aorta in two (0.6%) cases, the aortic arch in 23 (7.1%), the descending thoracic aorta in 219 (68.1%), and the abdominal aorta in 78 (24.2%). a trick of an amusing, playful, or sometimes malicious nature.
